Lets Create 60 More New Magic Items

Hi guys,

With everything nearly done with the 2nd Edition Rules and the Elves, I'm turning my attention to working on the next stage of the game's development.

When the updated magic items list (1.7) will released within the next month, it will already have about 35 new magic items for you to get your teeth into, but I want to add more in there for when I release 1.8 later in the next year now.

So I want about 55 more magic items and I would love you guys to be involved too in creating them. Therefore, you guys can come up with them on this thread, which will be open to debate by everyone on here.

Magic Item Guild Lines
  • We are looking at creating at least 15 new Arcane Items, 15 Magical Weapons, 10 Magical Armour, 10 Magic Banners & 10 Enchanted magic items.
    The writer of the magical item must in include it's rough rules.
    It would be nice if the writer includes a backstory or blurb of the magic item.
    The writer must understand the current rules for Three Plains, which can be download freely here:http://epicwargaming.com/
    The writer should include points of the item, but its value will no doubt with it be debated and game tested.

Magic Item Creation Rules and Point Guide
Master Rules
1. No magic item can ever nullify all others another magic items
2. No magic item will fully destroy another gaming piece without at least 1 roll of a dice being made first.
3. No item should make a piece totally or very nearly immune from nearly all kinds of attacks in a game. However, an item can make a piece become invincible for a short amount of time.

Points Guide
-1 toughness = 10pts
-1 agility = 10pts
-1 armour = 10pts
-1 luck = 15pts

+1 toughness = 20pts and for units 60pts
+1 agility = 20pts and for units 60pts
+1 armour = 15pts and for units 60pts
+1 luck = 30pts and for units 75pts

-1 to hit in combat = 25pts and for units 60pts
-1 to hit for shooting = 25pts and for units 50pts

Automatically hits in combat = 60pts
Automatically hits for shooing = 75pts

+1 to hit in combat = 30pts and for units 60pts
+1 to hit for shooting = 30pts and for units 50pts

Always 6s to hit in combat = 75pts and for units 100pts
Always 6s to hit vs shooting = 30pts and for units 65pts
Always 6s to overcome saves = 90pts and for units 120pts

Cancels out toughness save = 40pts and for units 50pts
Cancels out agility save = 40pts and for units 50pts
Cancels out armour save = 40pts and for units 50pts
Cancels out luck save = 50pts and for units 50pts
However for each cancelled out save added together deduct -10pts each time
No saves at all = 100pts

-1 fatally wounding throw = 30pts and for units 50pts
-D3 fatally wounding throw = 45pts and for units 125pts
-D6 fatally wounding throw = 65pts and for units 200pts
Fatally blow = 90pts

+1 fatally wounding throw 40pts and for units 75pts
Reroll fatally wounding throw 60pts and for units 100pts

Reroll to hit in combat = 35pts and for units 50pts
Reroll shoot = 25 pts and for units 40pts
Reroll 1 casting die = 30 pts
Reroll all casting dice = 100pts
Reroll any affects of spell = 100pts
Rerolls to overcome saves = 35pts

+1 movement 20pts and for units 50pts
+1 soldier = 15pts and for units 20pts
+1 combat rating = 15pts and for units 30pts
+1 attack = 25pts and for units 50pts
+D3 attacks = 45pts and for units 125pts
+D6 attacks = 75pts and for units 200pts
Doubles all attacks = 80pts and for units 150pts with a cap of 5 attacks
+1 movement = 20pts + 50pts for flying move
+1 endurance = 10pts and for units 20pts

Magic item effects affecting an entire pieces (units or mounted beast for instance) = 50pts

+1 fear factor = 20pts and for units 20pts

One use only = -50% off a total cost of magic item

Nullify a magic item of same type = 50pts

Frenzy = 20pts and for units 45pts
Hatred = 25pts and for units 50pts

+1 to cast to first roll to cast for first spell per magic phase = 30pts
+1 to cast to first roll to cast for all spells = 90pts
+1 to cast to all dice rolls to cast = 150pts

+1 dice to cast = 70pts

-1 to cast to first roll to cast for first spell per magic phase of the wizards choosing = 20pts
-1 to cast affecting 1 spell only spells of the wizard choosing = 70pts
-1 to cast to all dice rolls to cast = 140pts

-1 dice to cast = 40pts

Reroll first dice roll to cast per magic phase = 30pts
Reroll first dice roll to cast per spell = 60pts
Reroll all dice to cast per spell = 140pts

One use only. +1 to cast to first roll to cast for first spell per magic phase = 5pts
One use only. +2 to cast to first roll to cast for first spell per magic phase = 15pts
One use only. +1 to cast to first roll to cast for all spells = 20pts
One use only. +1 to cast to all dice rolls to cast = 60pts

One use only. +1 dice to cast = 35pts

One use only. Reroll first dice roll to cast for first spell = 5pts
One use only. Reroll first dice roll per spell affecting on magic phase only = 30pts
Reroll all dice to cast per spell affecting one magic phase only = 60pts

Dispel = 35pts

Automatically casts one spell 55pts

Unbreakable = 150pts


Will that's it. The best ideas will be added to the list underneath until we reach 60.

Note: These items are ready to game test now, so everyone please use them and report back. If you are going to tart using them for a normal game, check with your opponet first if its ok to use them and make sure you have the most current up today rules and points for them by checking this forum, as they will change over the coming months.

Lances cape of courteousness (name and blurb subject to change)
There was once a night who could never be bested in 1 one 1 duels, but in an actual battle he was always outwitted by cunning opponents, outflanking him at every turn due to his slow wittedness. So when he returned he had a tailor create a cape which showed how royal he was. He then had it enchanted to increase the effects it would have on someone a thousand fold so all that looked on him would bow in respect giving him chance to react.

The cape is a one use per turn. when your opponent charges you, you can use this to make it count as a failed charge. this dosent work on beasts but will still work on cavalry as its the riders who are commanding the mount
It could do with a bit of tweaking, if anyone else has any suggestions i'll work it into it :D .

what about a transform magic item that transform weapons of a group of friendlys into more powerful weapons that increases the attack by 1 :ugeek:

It could do with a bit of tweaking, if anyone else has any suggestions i'll work it into it :D .
Not bad, but I think it is a little too good. So maybe the charger would have to take a soldiering check of a 11 or something. I would start it at 50pts for game testing. Maybe we could call it the 'Banner of Hesitation' with your back story included in the blurb? let me know your thoughs?

I like where you are going with it. Maybe it would be a banner which allows unit to swap starts around with an other. so you could take 1 movement and swap it for an extra attack for instance???
